In fact, a recent Leapwork survey finds that as adoption of AI coding tools increases, the amount of budget dollars allocated to quality assurance and validation is rising to consume 35% to 40% of application development budgets.

Leapwork is addressing this issue with the launch of Leapwork AI Studio, an extension of its core test automation platform that provides access to AI agents that create, orchestrate and validate tests across the software development lifecycle (SDLC). Available in preview, that platform is based on an existing Leapwork Studio offering, a visual, no-code test automation engine that is designed to deterministically ensure that the right tests are executed across legacy, desktop, web and mobile application environments.

That core capability is now being further extended to provide access to a technology preview of the full suite of AI Automation Blocks that can invoke generative AI models to create tests, handle data and diagnose failures. Those Automation Blocks, for example, can be used to compare AI-generated responses against expected outcomes to verify accuracy or enhance user interface testing using text and data without requiring manual pixel-level checks.

Finally, Leapwork has also added a Leapwork Performance offering to provide load, performance, and application programming interface (API) testing. Software engineering teams will be able to simulate real-world traffic, identify bottlenecks and validate system resilience.

Collectively, these offerings make it possible for software engineering teams to combine probabilistic AI models with a deterministic engine to both streamline the creation of tests and validate results with fewer handoffs, noted Raghuvansi.

Mitch Ashley, vice president and practice lead for software lifecycle engineering at the Futurum Group, said it’s clear that code generated by Claude Code, Codex, and Cursor moves faster than traditional validation can absorb. The Continuous Validation Platform from Leapwork makes validation the trust layer between agent-generated code and production environments, he added.

The split between deterministic Studio and agentic AI Studio reflects how software engineering teams need to manage the SDLC, especially in regulated environments where teams cannot surrender audit trails as they adopt AI-native test generation, said Ashley.

Each software engineering team will need to determine to what degree to embrace generative AI, but it’s clear that despite the advanced reasoning capabilities it enables there is still a need for a deterministic approach to testing that ensures the right tests are run at the right time. Otherwise, it’s probable that AI testing agents are only going to further exacerbate validation issues that have long plagued DevOps teams even before the rise of AI coding. In fact, in the absence of AI testing tools the pressure on teams to validate code faster is clearly rising.

Hopefully, as more AI code is tested and validated before it makes it into a production environment, the overall quality of the software deployed will substantially improve. In the meantime, however, the number of issues likely to arise after software has been deployed in a production environment is, in the absence of that testing, only likely to rise.

Leapwork this week revealed it is infusing agentic artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities into its test automation platforms to enable continuous […]

[5

post-3876","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-devops
["GET
